Zmcb Final Concert

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – It’s the end of a musical event of the Summer.

The 96th season of the Zanesville Memorial Concert band came to an end Sunday evening. They typically perform five free concerts a year at Zane’s Landing Park for the entire community to listen and enjoy. The final concert of the season had a theme of “Sea Shanty,” playing music like the Little Mermaid and Pirates of the Caribbean.

“We kinda pushed this one back a little bit later than normal, we usually end in July. But we just hope that a lot of people come out and enjoy this. We usually end up with about 600 people here each year, each concert. Somebody who plays the trombone has a PHD in trombone performance is going to be performing tonight, bass trombone solo tonight. So that’s a little special treat for us. We try to do special things like that for the final concert,” said ZMCB President, Chad Stemm.

The Zanesville Memorial Concert Band flourishes the community with performing arts since 1923. Stemm said bring art to the area is extremely important.

“The arts, you know the arts are so important not to lose. You lose the arts, you lose everything. Everything is written about the arts; math, science, english, you know it’s all arts. If we lose art, we lose history, we lose culture, we lose everything. So it’s very important to hold traditions like this especially in a small community,” Stemm added.

The 2020 Summer Season will be held at Zane’s Landing Park again. Zanesville Memorial Concert Band thanks all their sponsors and community members for attending their event every year.
