Tobacco Survey Needs Participants

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- The Zanesville-Muskingum County Health Department is looking to hear from the public.

The health department is seeking responses to a Tobacco Survey. The Survey results will help shape the the direction the agency will go in changing current tobacco policies.

“We have funds from the Ohio Department of Health to work on policies to get them new ones or to improve the ones that they have,” said Health Educator for the Health Department Jessica Emerick. “It’s asking about how they feel about being around second hand smoke and if they want to go to a park they would rather it be smoke free. If we should ban smoking completely or smoking sections, or designated smoking areas in outdoor public places.”

The survey includes questions about what people want changed in smoking policies for schools, public outdoor spaces, and multi-unit houses. The health department also wants the public’s view on raising the purchase age for tobacco products.

“The goal of the survey is to see what the priority is for the community,” said Emerick. “So if they would rather public outdoor spaces be smoke free before multi house complexes then that’s what we’ll focus on first.”

You can fill out the survey , it only takes a few minutes. Go to ZMCHD.org and click on Tobacco Survey.
