Zanesville Public Service Committee Holds Meeting
The Zanesville Public Service Committee got together Wednesday to discuss and give updates on projects.
One of the items on the agenda was an update on the dog park committee. We spoke to Public Service Director Jay Bennett who told us it was something the community has been wanting to socialize with other dog owners. Bennett says it is in the works.
"We had one meeting, have another one coming up soon. Kind of the initiative is that for the city to kind of take on and look at a new dog park and make re-use of an existing facility and kind of create fencing, and benches and things for use of a dog park. Off leash dog park. We would want a strong partner with us and those are the owners."
The Zanesville Airport also came up in the meeting. The FAA provides allocations to the airport each year to keep air facilities functional. The organization no longer wants to fund the crosswinds runway due to wind patterns in the area and under-use. Bennett says they want to work to keep the runway in use for many reasons.
"We kind of objected because we feel its a facility we’ve got. Once it’s gone you’ll never get it back. Also we feel its an attraction for general aviation as well as for our business community who wants to use it. We’d really hate to not have a facility available for one of our business owners to come in for a corporate event or corporate review of something and and not being able to land at our airport and have to delay off to Columbus."
The heritage tank painting, cemetery vaults, and street paving were also discussed.
