Zanesville’s 2nd ward race heating up
Another new face is running for Zanesville City Council in the 2nd ward.
John Moore filed his petition early Wednesday to run as a republican. Moore owns A & J Services, which specializes in excavating and other services relating to dirt and sewage. Moore has been self employed his entire life. He said that has shaped him as the hard worker he is today.
"I’ve been self employed my whole life, so I know how to hustle," Moore said. "When you’re self employed you’ve gotta hustle 24/7 so hustling and working hard is not anything new to me."
Moore grew up on Putnam Avenue and has lived there his entire life. He is now raising his kids there. Cleaning up the drug problem in the area is one of the reasons he is running. He said he wants to make sure his kids can feel safe there.
"I want to bring the pride back there and let people see hey this is a good area," Moore said. "So I want to work with the chief of police, work hand and hand with the police officers, [with the] boots on the ground and see what we can do to try and clean up this area, try to get rid of some of the drug houses."
Moore is the only person running as a republican in the 2nd ward. He will face democrat Jan Bradshaw in the November general election.
