ZARKS Take to the Sky

More than 200 people with an interest in aviation stopped by Maysville Elementary School Saturday.

The annual Zarks RC Club Swap Meet hosted around 25 vendors selling radio controlled, planes and helicopters with supplies and accessories. It is a popular event with the pros and Zarks is always looking to help beginners interested in the hobby.

"We had several people come in from the community, we have helped several people, hooked them up with local hobby shops and got them the information to help them get started," says Brett Bradley, President of the Zarks RC Club.

The skilled hobbyists flew their planes inside the Maysville gym, while beginners tried their hand at a flight simulator. The flight simulator gave beginners a chance to use actual controls to get a feel of how a plane or helicopter flies. Beginner, Christopher Calhoun, learned how to fly his airplanes on the flight simulator. He says he enjoys events like these because it gives him a chance to learn from the pros.

"Basically you learn the tricks and the stuff that you need to know to learn how to fly," says Calhoun.

Once the weather gets better, Zarks will take the larger planes and helicopters outside to fly. Bradley says Zarks is always looking for more members and if you are interested in joining go to the "Zarks" link above.
