ZHS 2011 Hall of Fame Inductees Announced

It was an exciting Saturday evening at Zanesville High School as the 2011 Hall of Fame inductees were announced.

Among the seven inducted was Trafford Dick. He served Zanesville City Schools for 38 years including the District’s superintendent for 4 years. He says it is an honor to be inducted.

"They just sort of accept you as what you are and then it comes along, you spend a lot of time working with kids in the educational system, they say hey, we’e going to honor you because you’ve done a lot of work and done a lot of things in the community and it really is a pleasure to be honored that way and it certainly is an honor for me," said Dick.

Clarence Cones was also another 2011 inductee. Jones played football, basketball and baseball for the Blue Devils and later ascended his career to professional baseball as a hitting coach for the Atlanta Braves and Cleveland Indians.

"It’s a great feeling. You know it’s hard to describe. It’s something that you don’t think about much but you hope it happens and with me I never thought about it, just one day I received a call and they told me this and it was a great honor. "

Other inductees to the Class of 2011 include Tim Coffey, Tom Lyall, Stanley Morse, Norris Schneider, and John Simpson.

Former inductees were also present at Saturday’s event including Mayor Butch Zwelling, Zanesville native Kevin Martin, and Zanesville Artist Mary Ann Bucci and others.
