ZANESVILLE, Ohio- Muskingum County is now home to some newly published authors.

Zanesville High School students have authored and published a book titled Pictures of the Past. This book is a collection of nonfiction narratives based on interviews.

“I think that it’s just a really cool opportunity to be part of this,” said Tyler Tompkins, “And it’s something cool to say you’re a published author as a high schooler. It’s just something cool.”

“There were certain moments that required more work than others,” said Kyle Morris. “Like actually producing a story from the interview and then editing it and actually publishing it.”

Tyler Tompkins said the part of the process that was most fun for him was creating the book cover. And for Kyle Morris, he enjoyed writing the story the most. English teacher Lori Lee said this book was a collaborative effort.

“Elizabeth Christy is a local author who came in and worked with the students and gave them feedback,” said Lee. “Then one was with the friends of the public library. They actually purchased the books ahead of time so that we did not have to purchase them. It is an amazing process every year I just get to see so much growth with the students.”

the book launching is on Tuesday, April 26th at 7 p.m. at the John McIntire Library. Copies of Pictures of the Past can be purchased that night for $12 with all proceeds being donated to the Grant Hickman Foundation.
