ZPD: Man in Custody In Shooting

Zanesville Police Chief Kenneth Miller says one man is in custody after a shooting.

It happened Thursday night just after 6:30 at 816 Orchard Street. Chief Miller says between 6 and 8 shots were fired off by a male in an apparent domestic incident. There were no injuries. 

Zanesville Police say Charles R. Simon, Sr , age 48, 1121 W. Main St, Zanesville has been charged with:

1 ct. Aggravated Arson F-1
3 cts. Discharging a Firearm at or into a Habitation (Firearm Spec) F-2
1 ct. Menacing by Stalking F-4
1 ct. Criminal Damaging M-2
1 ct. Vandalism F-5
1 ct. Domestic Violence by Threat M-4

The arson charge and one charge of discharging results from an incident at 1121 W. Main St on April 9, 2016, in which a mattress was set on fire and a gun was discharged into a wall in the house.

The criminal damage charge is from an incident on April 18, 2016 in which a tire was punctured on a vehicle at 816 Orchard St.

Simon is currently incarcerated in the Zanesville City Jail with bond set at $500,000.
