Father's day is not until Sunday but one organization started the celebration early.

Forever Dads threw its All Star Dad's Day early Saturday. The event has taken place for the last 10 years. Beth Chapman is a volunteer at Dad's Day and says she was compelled to get involved.

"I had luckily a very influential father and I know the importance of trying to support the father kid connection, " said Chapman

They're hosting their 50th Annual Father's Day barbecue this Sunday and they're hoping you bring your family to celebrate the holiday with them.

"Dinner starts at 11 O'clock. Dinners are $7 a piece. Meals include half a chicken, applesauce, coleslaw, a bag of Conn's chips and a snowflake dinner roll from Nickel's," said Lt. Tyler Huber of the Falls Twp. Fire Department.

Father's Day is a time to celebrate the influence and bond between a Dad and his children. For one local family in Zanesville this meaning has not been forgotten.

All Dads aboard the Lorena Sternwheeler were honored Sunday.

Dads got to ride for half price, and that brought out many families and fathers. In fact, the boat was packed with 72 people for the first trip down the Muskingum.


"I think it's just to give fathers the opportunity to do it which i think is great, and of course it's half price which also helps," says Lorena captain Bill Page.

One local father got to spend Father's Day with his children for the first time in years.

Gerald Rice has lived in Wyoming for the past ten years, and after moving back six months ago, there's nowhere he'd rather be.

"It means the world to me being able to spend time with my kids so something I've been waiting for for a long time," says Rice.

People across the country celebrated Father's Day today, and one area dad got a very special gift.

Dustin Forshey was beaming today as he held his 6lb. 11oz. baby boy, Brody Skyler.


"I'm very excited, especially on Father's Day, nothing there's nothing in the world," says Forshey.
