ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Zanesville-Muskingum County Port Authority received a new $900,000 grant for road work improvements at the Eastpointe Business Park.

Zanesville-Muskingum County Port Authority Executive Director, Matt Abbott said this will be great for the businesses, and could even attract more business to Zanesville. He said the grant money is always great to receive, and Abbott said when new businesses come in, they can typically work out grants.

“We recently received a grant and a lot of times any new company that comes to our community, we have the ability to tap into some grants whether they are regional, state or federal. We just received word that we were going to receive $900,000 for roadwork improvements at the Eastpointe Business Park. Those are split up into two different grants. One is for $700,000 and one is for $200,000 so, it is good that these dollars can come to Muskingum County, they come to Eastpointe, but it is also a way of giving thanks to businesses that choose to locate, not only in Muskingum County, but in the State of Ohio,” Abbott added.

Abbott said new roads and quality infrastructure is important for businesses, and he added this will get more businesses wanting to come to Zanesville.

Abbott also mentioned “Any company that we have here in Muskingum County that has been here for quite sometime or even a company that is looking to come here. There are needs in infrastructure and transportation is a huge demand. Useful transportation is definitely needed. Also, infrastructure, water, sewer, gas, electric, fiber. Those things are all expectations when companies come in.”

Abbott said they will look to bid the project on January 1st 2020, and start construction in the Spring of 2020.
