ZANESVILLE, Ohio– Teachers and students in Southeast Ohio are getting back into the swing of things. The new school year has begun, and today a local school let our camera into their classroom.

Each year bright-eyed students enter classrooms across America with inquisitive minds that are ready to learn and explore. Greeted by teachers ready to satisfy each student’s appetite for learning.

“It’s just something I’ve just enjoyed. I did not do what I set out to do in my life and it turned out to be an awesome thing,” Muskingum County Board of DD, Director of Education Mary Ann Cluse said. “I do, I just really enjoy it.”

The classroom is adorned with the alphabet, shapes, and bright colored lockers. Just like any other classroom, but this class is unique.

“I don’t know how well I would do with a class of typical fifth and sixth graders. I don’t think I could handle that. I’m just much happier here. I’m doing this kind of work,” Cluse said.

These students are just like every other student, they just require little extra time and attention.
