$41,000 in marijuana seized from Perry County home

The Perry County Sheriff’s Office said authorities seized nearly 26 pounds of marijuana and recovered $60,000 worth of stolen property from a home in Somerset.

Shawna A. Miller, 33, and her husband, Justin E. Miller, 34, are in custody in connection with the incident.

The Perry county sheriff’s office reports on Sept. 7, sheriff’s deputies and agents with the Central Ohio Drug Enforcement Task Force executed two search warrants at 3545 Township Rd. 418 in Somerset. During the search, detectives located several large marijuana plants growing in the front yard of the residence, as well as, a stolen yard roller sitting next to the residence. Deputies held the scene throughout the night and resumed their search for more drugs and stolen property on Sept. 8. A helicopter from BCI&I assisted with locating additional marijuana plants that were scattered throughout the property. Narcotics detectives seized a total of 25.8 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of more than $41,000. Sheriffs detectives also recovered stolen construction equipment, ATVs, power tools and a golf cart that were reported stolen from locations in both Perry and Franklin counties. The total value of all the stolen property is $60,000.

Both suspects remain at the Southeast Ohio Regional Jail on theft charges. The investigation is on-going and more charges may be added at a later time.

The sheriff’s office said detectives were led to this property through information received from neighbors. Assisting with the investigation were troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Auto Theft Unit, Judge LuAnn Cooperider – Perry County Juvenile/Probate Court, the Perry County Prosecutor’s Office, the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification & Investigation and the Perry County Engineer’s Office.
