2023 Wagner Award Winner Announced

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Brian T. Wagner Community Leadership Award was established in 2005 by the Muskingum County Community Foundation to recognize community volunteers.
Peoples Bank Personal Insurance Producer Heather Devoll was named this year’s recipient and will be honored at the MCCF Groundhog Day celebration. Devoll discussed the work that got her nominated and what the award means to her.
“Power of the Purse was an event that the Red Cross did in the past and unfortunately they stepped away doing a lot of events, so the group, our committee stepped forward and I’m the leader of that along with Marlene, to put this event back on because it was so big in our community. Power of the Purse raised, last year, about $77,000 to go back to our community in scholarships,” Devoll said.
Devoll spent her childhood in Wyoming County, West Virginia and moved to Muskingum County in 2002. She credited her early upbringing as the motivation for her involvement in the community.
“Oh, to me this award, it’s an honor,” Devoll said. “I don’t feel that I deserve it, because I feel like I just do what I was taught to do as I was growing up and supporting the community. It’s just truly an honor because it’s not me that did it. It’s the group. And I work with some of the most giving people in this community.”
Devoll has been involved with the Red Cross, the Carr Center, MCCF, Power of the Purse, Tri-Valley Soccer, and a variety of other organizations.
The Muskingum County Community Foundation is known for financially assisting organizations that benefit the betterment of the community but they also recognize community leaders who do their part in making Muskingum County a better place to live.
