Runners and walkers fight to end breast cancer

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Walkers and runners dressed head-to-toe in pink on Saturday at Ohio University Zanesville today to fight to end breast cancer.
This is third year for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk in Zanesville. It’s a 5K where participants can team up to raise funds for cancer research. Chair member Sara Shallcross said it’s all part of trying to end breast cancer.
“Every single year that we do this we see more and more people come out and it’s really decking the campus out in pink. We’re just walking around the campus trail to raise awareness to finish the fight against breast cancer,†said Shallcross.
This year they had about 325 walkers and runners. So far they have raised a total of $45,000. John Largent, the event’s Senior Market Manger of Community Engagement, said they feel confident in coming close to their goal this year.
“$61,000 is our goal this year and we’re on track. We’re doing really well. If you’re not able to attend here personally you can always make a donation online,†said Largent.
