SOUTH ZANESVILLE, Ohio – You always know it’s almost time for Christmas when the Zanesville South Holiday Parade kicks off.

The parade covered almost two miles down Maysville Pike. 52 entries kicked off the holiday season this year. Angela Grigg, the vice president of the Zanesville South Business Association, said they were pleased with this year’s parade despite having less participants this year.

“It was cold, just like last year. We were a little bit down in people entering. We got a late start this year. We’re going to start planning in June next year, get some sponsorships, and get things working a little better next year,” said Grigg.

Grigg got to ride in a 1958 fire truck owned by Bo Keck. Keck said he bought the fire truck from Bowling Green as something to have fun with.

“They enjoy the truck and I always get the looks from people because there is no top on it and you’re riding around with no heat, but it’s kind of neat. I enjoyed the parade. It was good parade. There were a lot of people there. The entries were down but it was still a very good parade,” said Keck.

Keck said his fire truck will next appear at the Miracle on Main Street parade and will be carrying Santa Claus.
