United Way offers a way to give back on ‘Giving Tuesday’

Tis the Season to give. Following Black Friday and Cyber Monday you’ll have a chance to give to those in need.
Tomorrow is ‘Giving Tuesday’ a globally known day to celebrate generosity and give back. United Way of Muskingum, Perry, and Morgan Counties, Director of Resource Development, Katie McNeil said ‘Giving Tuesday‘ is recognized by non-profit organizations as a one day of the year to give to those in need.
“People need help and ‘Giving Tuesday‘ just again recognizes the means of how we can do good and it’s just a day to keep on your radar for giving back to the community,” McNeil said.
McNeil said United Way invest’s in many different agencies and programs in the counties and all of United Way’s investments last year went back to obtain goals of health, education, and income.
This year the United Way and Salvation Army are partnering together for the ‘Angel Tree’; a program where a person can take a child’s wish list from the tree. The person then purchases the item(s) on the wish list and turns the item(s) into the workers at the ‘Angel Tree’ located at the Colony Square Mall.
“It’s just families and kids in need specifically for Christmas and again making the investment through either the Salvation Army, the Angel Tree, or United Way is just a great way  to give back to our local community,” McNeil said.
United Way is offering the ‘One Stop Shop’ as one option to giving back; which all donations through that program will go towards all of United Way’s investments in partners.
“The ‘One Stop Shop’ way to do it is to visit unitedwayofmpm.org or you can fill out a pledge form for an investment during campaign season,” said McNeil. “We are still in Campaign.”
