The Music Director for S.E.O.S.O. Dr. Laura E. Schumann said the Holiday Concert started about 16 years ago when the board members wanted to hold a concert in Zanesville and Schumann wanted the concert to be fun for the audience.

“The Southeastern Ohio Symphony Orchestra in concert, with a lot of fun, a lot of friends, and a lot of folks from the entire area,” said Schumann. “We ask that people bring food donations and we then give those to Christ’s Table. The concert is free and it’s a gift to the community from us.”

Schumann said the board members sit down to plan out the focus of the show and this year they chose their music based off of Christmas stories.

“We go with the downtown initiative of storybook, so the main street idea of storybook,” said Schumann. “We have Polar Express [and] we have Charlie Brown, so music that revolves around stories at Christmas time.”
