Skylight’s expo feature latest wedding trends

NEWARK, Ohio – It’s a new year and many people are making plans for upcoming weddings, so the Skylight in Newark decided to host a wedding expo.

This was the first time that the Skylight, an upscale banquet facility, has hosted an expo for weddings. Owner Bentley F. Austin said it’s something they hope to do every year going forward.

“We have a lot of brides in 2017 that still need catering, cake people, DJs. So we decided to put this together for the community. We were very pleased. It was king of a last minute situation,” said Austin.

Austin opened the Skylight two years ago in the old Newark post office building. At today’s expo people got to see what the newest trends in weddings are.

“We have a little bit of everything. There’s a new thing out where you can have a stencil made for the dance floor with your initials. It’s a plastic thing that images and graphics is here doing,” said Austin.

Austin said the Skylight is hosting an open house with live entertainment this Thursday from 7 p.m. till 10 p.m. to commemorate the building’s 100^th anniversary.
