24th Annual Angel Tree Production

Today marked the 24th Anniversary of the Annual Angel Tree Production.

The Renner Theatre hosted the fourth and final show of this year’s production Sunday afternoon. All donations help the children at The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree. We spoke with the director and writer of the production, Rich Tolliver, this afternoon who said they’ve already raised over $3,600 from the first three shows. Tolliver said the money goes directly towards gifts for the kids.

"We’ve had a long affiliation with the angel tree, so we go and get angels ahead of time. This year, so far we have 60, but we think we might do more than that. And then, we actually give our people the money, they go buy the gifts and take them to The Salvation Army and have everything ready. That way we don’t give the money, we just give them the presents."

Tolliver said the whole reason for the production is to give back to the community.

"Our whole thing is, we’re supported by the community, so what we like to do is give something back and this is a way that we can do that by doing something we love. We put it all together and we’re able to come together as a group and contribute back into the community."

Now that the production is over, the cast and crew can begin shopping for the Angel Tree children.
