ZANESVILLE, Ohio– The community is lacing up for the 28th annual Lace Up for Kids shoe distribution.
Zanesville High School football players were at the Zanesville Civic League Community Center helping out the community, Wednesday, by unloading the Eastside Community Ministries’ truck, sorting out the shoes, and getting them prepared for Thursday’s distribution. ZHS senior Zephaniah Morgan shares his thought with us about volunteering.
“It takes a couple hours, we load it up, come here, and unload everything,” Morgan said. “We make sure everything is in the right spots. I think it’s a good thing helping out them out, when they don’t have it and making sure they get something they need.”
Lace Up For Kids is a local initiative that has bolstered support from entire community from local businesses, area organizations, and individuals.
“It takes a lot of people to put this together,” Lace Up For Kids Co-chair Sue Thuma said. “First of all, we have our sponsors, WHIZ and Wendy’s. The administrating body is Eastside Community Ministries. All kinds of people in this community donate money and that’s how we are able to give every kid a new pair of shoes.”
Thursday, Eastside Community Ministries with the help of several volunteers will distribute those shoes to the families whom have already preregistered.
