Three Arrests Made in Newark Shooting

The Newark Police Department has made three arrests in an October 20 shooting.

Detectives announced the arrests of 36-year-old Kevin Richards, 39-year-old Mark Turner and 34-year-old Matthew Wheat of Newark. All three suspects have been apprehended.

The three now face charges of attempted murder, felonious assault, aggravated robbery and weapons under disability.

Newark Police said in the early morning hours of the 20th a male identified as Matthew Bigboy entered the Licking Memorial Hospital Emergency Room with gunshot wounds. He was transported to OSU Medical Center where he was treated and released.

The Licking Memorial staff contacted Newark Police about Bigboy, who then launched an investigation and learned of the shooting at 270 Lawrence Street in Newark.

Richards, Turner and Wheat are all being held in the Licking County Justice Center.
