32nd Annual Carr Center Cake Auction recap
ZANESVILLE, Ohio- Nearly 400 cakes were auctioned off at the 32nd Annual Carr Center Cake Auction.
Guest auctioneer Ron Bucci has been part of the cake auction since the beginning in 1987. He said each year he amazed by the immense amount of community support. He said people not only bid on cakes and incentives but, also made financial donations.
“They care that much, that they want to give and they want to help. They don’t expect anything in return. They just do it because that’s the way they were raised and they know there’s a great cause. They said don’t make a big flash of it or anything but, you can’t help but let people know about that,” said Bucci.
Bucci said the cake auction takes some of the financial burdens off the Carr Center, which allows it to focus on helping Muskingum and Surround counties.
“Those who are in need, if you have a child with a speech or hearing problem or if you have an adult that maybe has dementia if maybe you’re in need of a wheelchair or some equipment you’re going to benefit from that. The Carr Center does provide,” said Bucci.
The 2018 cake auction raised over $117,000, nearly $7,500 more than 2017.
