MILLERSPORT, Ohio – Saturday the 70th annual Millersport Sweet Corn Festival wrapped up in Fairfield County.

The tradition started on Millersport’s main road back in 1946 as a fundraiser for the Lion’s Club. John Yorde, the marketing chairman for the festival said it has evolved every year since, and now they hold the four-day festival on over 100 acres of donated land.

“The good thing about the festival is that it’s 100% non-profit,” said Yorde. “Nobody is here to make money to put in their pocket. It’s going to a good cause. We have 90-some organizations here that participate.

The festival began this Wednesday with a parade through the village. On Friday there was a live concert from Lee Greenwood and on Saturday and on Saturday Lonestar performed.

Yorde has been with the Lion’s Club for 25 years and said they had record crowds this year after losing money that past few years.

“By looking at our parking lot and trying to calculate, we figure between 150,000 and 250,000 people will come through here in four days,” said Yorde.

Yorde said they are already preparing for next year’s Sweet Corn Festival.
