Walker Pleads Not Guilty In Shooting

A Columbus man accused of firing a shot at the door of the Smiling Goat bar appeared in Muskingum County Common Pleas Court for his arraignment. 39-year-old Maurice Walker pled not guilty to multiple charges including felonious assault, illegal possession of a firearm in a liquor premises and having a weapon while under disability. Zanesville Police Chief Kenneth Miller says on February 27th at 12:30 in the morning officers were dispatched to the Angry Bull Bar on Linden Avenue in reference to a subject refusing to leave the bar and the subject had a gun in his pocket. Miller says when officers were enroute to the Angry Bull, Walker went to the Smiling Goat where he was asked to leave. The Chief says when he left, he fired one shot through the front door of the bar. He was arrested by police later that morning at 724 Hedgewood Avenue and a gun was recovered at the residence. Judge Kelly Cottrill continued Walker’s bond at 500-thousand dollars.
