The Impact of the Increasing Price of Gas

ZANESVILLE, Ohio-Â Fueling up at the pump is getting increasing more costly these past last few weeks.
We went out in the community to see how these prices are effecting you.
“Like everybody else I sure wish it was lower,” David Robison said. “But it’s not going to effect what I’m going to do. We’re on a trip right now so it’s not going to effect whatever we do.”
“It’s taken a sizable chuck out of my pay check every time I fill her up,” Sean Hicks said. “I just kind of bite the bullet every time I get gas.”
“They’ve been fluctuating a lot,” Scott Drew said. “It’s kind of hard to really get a beat on the prices because it’s up minute down the next. It’s affecting because you have to pay more each week.”
“Me personally, not really a whole lot,” Joe Fountain said. “It’s going down. It’s a little bit better than it was a year ago. I’m in the delivery business, so it effects getting the cost of goods to the stores, product and where you have to be and what it cost for the customer. Now, this year it seems to be a lot better than it has in the past.”
Motorists shared how much on average they spend on average and what their ideal gas price would be.
“On this trip, probably close to $100. I guess if you go back the last 4-5 years that would be average. But when I started driving it was only .75 a gallon. Everybody who’s traveling needs to be safe and watch everybody on the roadway. We don’t need and fatal [accidents]” Robison said.
“I usually just fill her up about 40 bucks,” Sean Hicks said.
“A $1.10 is a prefect gas price.” Scott Drew said.
“I heard that more people travel this year than in the past couple years because prices a little bit cheaper,” Joe Fountain said. “But me personally I kind of do the same thing every year on memorial weekend. If it hoovers right around $2 it’s fair to almost everybody.”
AAA said 91% of Ohio travels will drive to their destinations this Memorial Day.
