Former Ohio Governor Holds Roundtable Discussion In Zanesville

‘You Work It, You Earn It’ a message that one politician is trying to send across to Ohioans.

Democratic U.S Senate Candidate Ted Strickland is currently continuing his 3-day campaign tour on economic fairness across Ohio. Saturday the former Ohio Governor held a roundtable discussion in Zanesville to discuss three of his policy proposals.

"I’m talking about what I call the middle class squeeze. The fact that people have worked really hard and they’ve created wealth but, that wealth has been concentrated among the richest 1 percent of people in this country. Also, the wealth gap between the very rich and regular working people is greater than it’s been since the 1920’s. I’m talking about what I call kitchen table, bread and butter issues,’ said Strickland.

Strickland also contrasted his commitment to fighting for working people with Senator Portman’s record of pushing the agenda of the wealthy and well-connected.

"I want to go to the senate to be an advocate, to be a fighter for regular working people, working people needs a break. I want to give working people a tax cut, it’s time that working people got a tax cut. Because, all of the tax subsidies and benefits tend to go to the rich," said Strickland.

Strickland will face Republican Rob Portman and Green Party, Joseph Demare as well as independent candidates Thomas William Connors and Scott Rupert in the general election.
