Habitat For Humanity Seeks Volunteers For New Project

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Community members are invited to pick up their hammers for a special project.

After the completion of their first home in Perry county in September of 2015, Habitat for Humanity is ready to build again in the Village of Crooksville and they’re now seeking volunteers. The build is scheduled to start on July 15th and will take place on Washington street.

"Habitat for Humanity would be nothing without our volunteers. Our build sites are 95 percent volunteers and we have about 5 people that are on staff that are around during the times. But, if it wasn’t for our community partners and our volunteers our mission would not be possible," said Murphie Rambo, Community Engagement Director, Habitat for Humanity of Southeast Ohio.

As a part of this build, habitat will have a ‘Blitz Weekend’ July 29th through 30th. Rambo said more than 150 volunteers will raise the walls of the home and complete the exterior.

"Currently we’re about half full for that weekend, we have about 75 right now we’re still looking for community involvement. We’d like to see people come out from Crooksville, New Lexington and Roseville area to really support the family here in Crooksville," said Rambo.

After the "Blitz Weekend’ is completed, Rambo said Habitat for Humanity will continue to utilize volunteers to finish the home.
