Off Duty Deputy Among Three who Died in US 22 Accident

The Zanesville Post of the Highway Patrol says there were multiple
fatalities in Wednesday’s two vehicle accident on US 22 in Muskingum
County including an off duty Muskingum County Sheriff’s Deputy. The
deputy is identified as 21-year-old Zackary Smith.   Lt. Matt Boyd tells
WHIZ News that three people died in the accident and four children were
injured. Lt. Boyd says both drivers and a passenger died.  It happened
around 9:00 am on US 22 near State Route 345. Two Medflight Helicopters
were called to the scene to assist multiple first responders. The names
of those involved in the fatal accident between a pick-up truck
and minivan will not be released until family members are informed of
the accident.
