Federal Funds Awarded to United Way of Muskingum, Perry, and Morgan Counties

United Way Awards

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The United Way of Muskingum, Perry, and Morgan counties have been awarded federal funds under the Emergency Food and National Board Program.

The funds were made available through the Department of Homeland Security and Federal Emergency Management Agency to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in the counties. Muskingum County was awarded more than $48,000, Perry County received more than $20,000, and Morgan County was awarded more than $9,000.

“So financially speaking as a community, it’s better to have these funds in place so that we can help folks who are just coming on an emergency situation and they don’t have another resource. This funding is vital for that,” said United Way Community Impact Director, Becky Clawson.

Tax exempt and non-profit voluntary agencies can apply for the funds. They must have demonstrated the capability to deliver emergency food and shelter programs. Then a local board will determine how the funds will be distributed. That voting will take place on August 2nd.

“Any non-profit agencies in our community can apply for these funds. Whether they’re already doing this work or they see a need and want to begin doing this work. They can apply for the funds and then the board votes on the funding,” said Clawson.

Agencies are urged to apply by filling out the application online on United Way’s website, www.unitedwayofmpm.org . It can be found under the EFSP tab. The deadline is noon on Friday, July 26th.
