2nd Annual C.H.A.M.P.S. Camp Begins

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Muskingum Behavioral Health is offering C.H.A.M.P.S. Summer camp for the second year in a row.
The two day camp runs June 18th and 19th, and is for 4th, 5th, and 6th grade boys only. The goal is to teach the boys how to strengthen character, build self-esteem, learn and practice healthy habits, establish friendships, make positive decisions, and learn valuable life skills.
“CHAMPS Camp was originally developed for the boys, 4th, 5th, and 6th grade, to give them a place to go to and to learn about vocational training, things out in our community, to come out and to make new friends,” said CHAMPS Camp Coordinator, Cynthia Neff.
The boys also get the chance to participate in a variety of activities from making Native American necklaces to fitness exercises to meeting Zembra Brothers employees and learning about future careers.
“It’s just a time for the boys to come together and be boys. Have fun, meet new friends, get a feeling for some different things maybe that they haven’t done. And just have two good days of fun,” said Neff.
The enrollment has increased since the last CHAMPS camp, and the plan is to extend the camp to three days for next year.
