APEG First Annual Meeting

CAMBRIDGE, Ohio – The Appalachian Partnership for Economic Growth, or APEG, held their first ever annual meeting Tuesday morning in Cambridge.
APEG provides economic development assistance to 25 rural counties in Eastern and Southern Ohio. The purpose of the meeting is to share the successes since APEG’s inception and present the final Regional Economic Development Prosperity Plan.
“We’ve partnered with a bunch of people on the plan. We’ve talked to over 453 people were involved in the planning process. 36 public meetings. And we’ve got 13 different strategies that we’ll be executing moving forward,” said APEG CEO and President, Mike Jacoby.
Local economic development professionals, local elected officials, and JobsOhio leadership all attended the meeting. Jacoby said that within the local area, APEG has assisted in Zanesville expansion with projects such as Hallburton and Fanatics.
“We partner with the local development professionals but because we’re affiliated with JobsOhio we can bring the tax incentives, the training grants, the site grants, financing in some cases. And we’re doing more and more on the preparing sites side of things too,” he said.
Also at the meeting it was announced that the Zanesville-Muskingum County Port Authority won the Best Real Estate Project.
APEG will be replicating the meeting again on Wednesday, June 26th, in Chillicothe from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
