Animal Shelter Society Speaks To Kids at Fieldhouse Summer Camp

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Animal Shelter Society was invited to the Fieldhouse to speak with the kids of the Summer fun day camp.
The Animal Shelter Society spoke to the children about the shelter and their mission with the community. They also gave the kids tips on how to take care of animals properly. The children were able to meet two kittens during the presentation as well.
“We love talking to children because we feel that this age it’s very appropriate to get them to start loving animals and teach them the correct way. So we’re here today, we brought a couple kittens, which we have a lot of kittens at the shelter so we’re trying to educate them a little bit about what the shelter does, why it’s important to take care of animals, and how to take care of them properly,” said Interim Executive Director for the Animal Shelter Society, Russell Denny.
Director for the Summer camp, Katie Snider, said that it is important to teach the camp participants at a young age to have a sense of their community. The Fieldhouse’s Summer day camp wants to invite more community organizations to speak with the children about why it’s important to help the community and different ways they can do so.
“We were so excited to invite the animal shelter in to come and talk to our campers. Here at the Fieldhouse, we are so community based, and it’s really awesome to teach them at a young age to have a sense of their community, have a sense of helping others and giving back to the community,” Snider said.
If your child would like to sign up for the summer camp, you can contact the Fieldhouse at (740) 454-2224. The Animal Shelter Society is also inviting the community to join their ice cream social on Thursday at the shelter from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
