Manhunt for Derek Bush Continues

Suspect

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz held a press conference Thursday afternoon to discuss the manhunt for Derek Bush.

Bush is a suspect in the death of 5-month-old Kenslee Spears of Roseville. Bush is a 41-year-old man, stands at 5 foot 8 and weighs approximately 170 pounds. Lutz said they have received several leads from the community that have helped.

“Our detectives have been very busy trying to follow up on the leads. We appreciate everything that the public has done. Calling in, we have social media information coming in and we’ve followed up on everything that we’ve been advised . The issue is, is we have not found him yet,” said Lutz.

Lutz believes that Bush is still in the area and asks the community to keep giving tips. Sheriff Lutz said that Kenslee Spears’ mom was dating Bush, though Kenslee was not his daughter. Lutz added the original charge was felonious assault, but that was before the baby passed away.

“We still are looking for information on where he is at. We feel there probably is someone that is helping him. Not to scare anybody but if you are aiding him, you can be charged with that. This is a very serious investigation. We are wanting to move forward with it and we can’t do that until this person is talked to and until we finalize some of the stuff that we’re doing,” Lutz added.

Sheriff Lutz said if you know something, to please get in contact with the Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office.
