Fatal Accident Investigated on US 40 West

The Zanesville Post of the Highway Patrol is investigating an early morning fatal accident.   It happened on US 40 west near West Muskingum High School Thursday morning.  A car and a tanker truck were involved in the crash.  Sergeant Kevin Kelly says a car was traveling east on 40 past Kimes Road and a fuel truck was pulling out of Heartland Petroleum and pulled into the path of the car.  The driver of the car is identified as 37-year-old Joseph Lamb of Hopewell and he was killed in the accident.  The driver of the truck is identified as 48-year-old Todd Omen of Zanesville. He was injured and taken to Licking Memorial Hospital for treatment. The accident remains under investigation.
