Family questions fatal shooting by deputy after traffic stop

CARROLLTON, Ohio (AP) — The fiance and daughters of a man fatally shot by a sheriff’s deputy after a traffic stop say they don’t understand why he was killed.
Authorities say a Carroll County deputy shot 41-year-old Robert Sikon III, of Carrollton, Saturday morning.
The Canton Repository reports Sikon’s fiance, Jami Marcus Vinka, told the newspaper the deputy pulled over her pickup truck with Sikon in the passenger seat. The newspaper reported Sikon had a pending arrest warrant for failing to pay child support.
Vinka says the deputy yanked Sikon out of the truck and slammed him against the side. She says Sikon wrestled with the deputy in a yard after refusing to be handcuffed, ran off and was shot.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is investigating. A spokesman declined to comment Tuesday.
