Ride For Paige Fundraiser

A special little girl has earned the support of an entire community.

A Poker Run was held Saturday at the Eagles on Market Street for fourteen-month old Paige Calendine who was born without legs. Her family created the run last year to help with medical equipment and prosthetic expenses. Paige and her family must travel to New York to be fitted for her prosthetics.

"My dad started it pretty much the week she was born because around two months was when I started looking into prosthetics for her and everything and research and everything and where we go. Because where we go they’re the only ones that can make what she needs for her," said Heidi Calendine, Paige’s mother.

On top of the Poker Run there were raffles, shirt and wrist band sales. Thanks to support from local businesses the Calendines were also able to have an auction Friday night. The turnout for the second year has surpassed that of last year, thanks to word spreading among bikers.

"I think last year we had a guy come from either Cleveland or Cincinnati so I know some guys are coming from Newark, a bike group and stuff. The word gets out and it’s getting pretty big for only the second year I think it’s going to be pretty big," said Paige’s father, Sean Calendine.

Paige and her family will make their next trip to New York in October.
