Traditional food and donations give-away canceled

ZANESVILLE – The give-away that is held every second Friday of each month at the South Zanesville Village Park will not be taking place Friday.

The give-aways have averaged about 800 to 1 thousand visitors each month for the last two years. Tomorrow’s cancellation is due to a lack of personal protective equipment.

“The reason that it is cancelled is obviously because of the Corona Virus that is going around and, unfortunately, we just do not have the access to our personal protective gear for all of our volunteers to keep us safe and the public safe,” Two Fish and Five Loaves Ministry’s Samantha Puterbaugh said.

Puterbaugh gave her recommendation for people who rely on picking up food at the give away every month.

“This community is very fortunate. You have a lot of local ministries that have stepped up to do our outdoor produce markets and indoor produce markets and things. I do recommend that is people still have a food need, please call your 211 network. They will get you set up with a food pantry and you will be taken care of in Muskingum County,” Puterbaugh said.

Puterbaugh is not sure if there will be a give-away in May or when the next one will happen.
