ZANESVILLE – The City of Zanesville’s $28,000 bid for the property was approved by the Land Bank Board on June 30th. Zanesville Mayor Don Mason says that, right now, the city is looking at how it will address the environmental concerns posed by the dilapidated area on Linden Avenue.

“I think we ought to do some test borings in order to learn what we don’t know. We know what we don’t know but we need to find out if there’s other things that we just don’t know and so I expect that to continue and hopefully by the end of August we’ll have a well scoped engineering approach and then we can start looking for basically a general contractor to help take the helm,” Mason said.

County Commissioner Cindy Cameron has assumed the position that was left open after Commissioner Jim Porter suddenly left the Land Bank Board and this allows the Board to again have five members. Another area on the Board’s docket is on Bethlehem Road.

“There have been squatters on the property and it seems like there may have been some environmental issues in the 70’s and 80’s in the way of tires so we’re waiting to get files back from a bunch of different local and state organizations to figure out exactly what’s going on with that property,” Land Bank Executive Director Andy Roberts said.

The Board also discussed plans for a very small property on 951 Putnam Avenue.
