Board of Elections Issues Last Minute Instructions For Mail In Voting

ZANESVILLE, Ohio-With Election Day only a week away the Muskingum County Board of Elections has some last minute instructions.
Many are planning on voting by mail this election cycle due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Election specialist Cheryl West sasy time is running out to get your ballot.
“People that are still interested in receiving a ballot by mail, there’s a deadline coming up in order to do that. So, in order for us to be able to send that to you the ballot requests needs to be in to us by Saturday at noon, However, we do recommend that you delay until that point, and the reason being that we cannot guarantee the turnaround time for mail.”
Mail-in ballots returning need to be postmarked by November 2nd. Voters who have requested their ballot be sent to them need to fill out the ballot.
“If you have your ballot mailed to you you must vote it. There’s been some questions about that. That is what we consider a live ballot. It has to be returned to us as soon as possible. So if you do not return it to us you would have to vote a provisional ballot on election day as we will not be open Election Day, obviously we will be out at the polls.”
Voting on Election Day, November 3rd, will begin at 6:30 am.
