Gift of Sound: Couple Receives New Hearing Aids from Nationwide Campaign

Norvell

ZANESVILLE, Ohio-Two Muskingum County residents received new hearing aids as part of the ReSound Gives Sound Community Campaign.

Brad Norvell nominated around 20 to 25 people from his Hearing Aid Center. Sylvia and Eugene Burkey were chosen. On Wednesday afternoon, the Burkey’s received the hearing aids from GN ReSounds regional manager Jim Boyd.

“We’re thankful for the opportunity, the campaign, local services, just looking forward to it,” Sylvia Burkey said.

Sylvia and Eugene have been customers of Norvell’s Hearing Aid Center for 10 years. Aside from them being home bodies during the pandemic, they are very involved with the community and the North Terrace Church of Christ.

“They’ve been through a lot. They really haven’t gone out in over a year and I know for a fact they haven’t gone out to a restaurant in well over a year, so I think that it’s great that ReSound has been able to give back the gift of hearing to the Burkey’s,” Norvell said.

The campaign is close to donating $1 million worth of ReSound hearing aids. Boyd said each pair of hearing aid costs around $7,000.
