Local Athletes Take Titles at State Track

Local track and field athletes were back in competition as the OHSAA State Tournament continued across Ohio.
It was a big day in the Division II State Tournament for Heath’s Huntyr Butler. He took first place in the 110 Hurdles with a time 14.63.
In the girls 400 dash it was Licking Valley’s Reagan Carpenter who took first place. She finished with a time of 56.62.
Over in Division III it was Crooksville’s Greta Barker who came away big. She took home second place in the Girls 100 Dash. She finished with a time of 12.27. Barker also took part in the girls 200 dash where she came in fifth with a time of 26.00.

Division I:
Boys 4×100 Relay: Granville finished the race in 5th place with a time of 42.24
Boys 4×200 Relays: Granville finished in 5th place with a time of 1:27.63
Boys 4×400 Relay: Granville finished 5th place with a time of 3:21.05
Division II:
Heath’s Kennedy Bailey falls short of the podium with a fourth place finish in girls shot put. She had a throw of 41’6”
Morgan’s Odessa Smith took the 4th spot in the 100 hurdles with a time of 15.37 while John Glenn’s Hannah Clifford finished 8th with a time of 16.36. Smith also finished 8th in the 300 Hurdles with a time of 46.32.
In the girls 100 Dash River View’s Kelsey Hartsock took fifth place with a time of 12.53 while Morgan’s Josie Knierim ended the day with an 8th place finish with a time of 12.95. Hartsock also finished just shy of the podium with a fourth place finish in the Girls 200 dash.
On the boys side of the 100 dash Meadowbrook’s Kahle Flowers tied for sixth with Triway’s Cameron Soss. Both had a time of 11.34.
Morgan and River View both took part in the girls 400 Relay. The Raiders took seventh place with a time of 50.22 and the Black Bears took 8th with a time of 50.42.
Boys 300 Hurdles had River View’s Austin Philabaum finishing 8th with a time of 42.34.
DIII:
The girl’s 400 Relay from Crooksville finished 6th with a time of 50.18.
