Working Wonder Women and South Zanesville Fire Department Prepares for Community Pancake Day

MUSKINGUM COUNTY, Ohio- The Community Pancake Day is coming soon at the Secrest Auditorium and volunteers are needed.
The event is hosted by both South Zanesville Fire Department and Working Wonder Women, a union of six nonprofit organizations led by women. Melissa Best, Director of Community Engagement for Habitat for Humanity Southeast Ohio, provides information on what the volunteers will be doing.
“We are looking for volunteers to help us make this a fun and safe day for everybody. We need people to help clean, to take out trash, we need people flipping pancakes. We have a great need and we’re asking for people to reach out to us to see if they can come for a two hour shift. As many two hour shifts as they would like, but we would really like some help to make this day great for everyone,” Best said.
To volunteer, you can visit the Working Wonder Women’s Facebook page and click the link at the top, says Best. She said that you can also reach out to any of the Working Wonder Women or Chief Russell Taylor with the South Zanesville FD.
Pancake Day is a tradition for the Zanesville community. Chief Taylor talked about how the proceeds will help both the Working Wonder Women and South Zanesville FD.
“We split the money down the middle. We help with several different charities at the same time. Also, it’s just a community event that people love to come to and we didn’t want to see it go away so we took it on and with the great women coming up behind us in their great organizations, I think it’s going to be a great success,” Chief Taylor said. “We want everybody in the county or out of the county to come in and enjoy good pancakes and sausage.”
The Community Pancake Day will be on November 17th starting at 6:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tickets are available for $8 and $9 at the door, and can be purchased from any of the six participating agencies.
