Poll Workers Needed in Muskingum County and Statewide

MUSKINGUM COUNTY, Ohio- The Ohio primary election is quickly approaching, and Ohio still needs poll workers.
The Primary election will be held on May 3rd, and many local polling sites are not yet full staffed.
It takes 55,000 people to fill polling locations, including both republicans and democrats.
Secretary of State, Frank LaRose says he urges Ohioans to get out and get signed up to help.
“They’ll train you, they’ll pay you, but more important than any of that is that you’re doing an important patriotic duty and it takes republicans and democrats to do this work.”
The extension for workers does not only apply to adults, students in high school 17 and older can also work the election.
The program ‘Youth at the Booth,’ allows students to not only get to learn about the importance of democracy, but also a chance to help their community, according to Cheryl West, Muskingum County Election Specialist.
“They would have that opportunity to get some training and help some provide community service. They can also count participation on job applications and scholarship applications, they also can get paid if they do work for us.”
