Home Medical Visits Set to Return to Cambridge

CAMBRIDGE, Ohio- The Medical Associates of Cambridge has permanently reintroduced House visits for at risk patients.
The services available include wellness visits, disease management, and treatment of acute problems.
The Medical Association was inspired to bring back house calls during the pandemic, after they saw a lack in transportation and proper technology to do virtual visits.
Medical Physician and President of the Medical Associates of Cambridge, Patrick Goggin says that they strive to provide their more vulnerable patients with the best care team.
“Now we have a team of registered nurses, social workers to address social determinants of health, a clinical pharmacist to to help with medicine making them easier to understand, easier to afford and now in ironic turn, 90 years later we’ve taken all of that coordinated care and have taken it back to the home, where for some of our patients is where they need care. And that’s very rewarding,” he told us.
In the 1930s, Dr. Goggin’s grandfather was a physician who regularly practiced home visits.
A member of the home visit care team and Family Nurse Practitioner, Dylan Eubanks says that home visits provided more insight about patients.
“I really enjoy going into the home. You get to know a little bit where the patient is coming from and their background and you can kind of understand the patient a little bit more as well as I think it’s very rewarding just providing them a great service,” she said.
Chronically ill and homebound patients now have regular access to the help they lacked in previous years.
The services comeback does have plans to continue to provide the best care for patients that qualify.
