Community Bank Hosts Annual Shredding Event

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- This afternoon the Community National Bank held their annual ‘Community Shred Day.’
The event helps the community get rid of personal documents that they no longer need.
There have been several tons of paper with personal information shredded since the start several years ago.
The president and CEO of the community National bank, Eric Holsky says that shredding helps protect identities.
“Out there right now There is a lot of thieves looking to steal identities, commit fraud and they use social security numbers, addresses, things like that. If you just throw your personal documents away, they’ve gotten in the trash, there is several ways to do it, so it helps to protect that information,” the president told us.
Help from volunteers powers the event, with mostly students collecting bags of shredded documents.
Natalie Holsky, a high school student and volunteer for the events says volunteering is important for the youth, “to volunteer, it’s a great opportunity to the youth to take part in the community. It’s an easier way to help out, maybe if you want to go into business or something when you’re older. So it’s just a step ahead.”
The Community Bank is proud to be helping prevent identity theft.
