2 Cases of Whooping Cough Confirmed
The Zanesville Muskingum County Health Department Thursday announced that is has confirmed two cases of whooping cough at West Muskingum High School. Neither student has any siblings in the other buildings. Health officials say symptoms generally resemble a common cold in the beginning, including sneezing, runny nose, low-grade fever and mild cough. Within two weeks the cough may worsen and may be followed by a high-pitched whoop or crowing sound. If you child should develop these symptoms in the next couple of weeks or has been in contact with someone who has been diagnosed with whopping cough, contact your family doctor.
