Edmond Paul VanMeter, Jr., 85, of Mount Perry, passed away at 1:40 p.m. Friday November 10, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on August 4, 1938 in Townsend, Montana, a son of the late Edmond Paul VanMeter, Sr. and Lydia Barthule VanMeter. He was a United States Army veteran serving from 1962-1964 followed by a time in the Army Reserve. He was a heavy equipment operator and retired from the Operating Engineers Local #18. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Phyllis A. (Musick) VanMeter. One son Dr. Jeffrey (Beverly) VanMeter. One daughter Jennifer A. (Richard) Powell. Grandchildren Jessica (Rob), Jacob, Julia (Micah), Katie (Dominik), Sheridan (Jonathan), and Nathan. Great-grandchildren Ayla, Theodore, Lily, and Everett. Six sisters Vivian Harvey, Paula Meadows, Patricia VanMeter, Jeri VanMeter, Therese VanMeter, and Vicki VanMeter. Three brothers Wesley VanMeter, Tracy VanMeter, and Brian VanMeter. Numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers Victor VanMeter, Kenneth VanMeter, and John VanMeter. Three sisters Virginia Ervin, Peggy Kopis, and Carol Jean VanMeter. Per his wishes, a cremation will take place and no services will be held at this time. William Thompson & Son Funeral Home is assisting the VanMeter family.
