Former Police Chief Enters Race for Muskingum Co. Commissioner

ZANESVILLE, OH – A former Zanesville Police Chief filed to be a candidate in the upcoming Muskingum County Commissioner Race.
Tony Coury entered the race as a Republican to fill the seat being left vacant by Commissioner Mollie Crooks.
Coury hopes he can do some good for the community if he is elected County Commissioner.
“I want to do something good for the community, not only Muskingum County but the City of Zanesville as well,” Coury said. “I want to touch all the villages from all the way north to all the way south and make sure everybody’s getting a fair look.”
Coury detailed some of his plans if he were elected.
“I would like to sit down with the other commissioners and see exactly what’s going on,” Coury said. “I have a history in safety services. So I want to make sure our safety services, both fire and police, are taken care of. As well as the cities and villages in the county.”
The Primary election will be on March 19th.
Coury will be running against fellow Republicans Drake Prouty and Gene Tahyi. We will hear from Prouty Wednesday on the WHIZ news at 5.
