ZANESVILLE, OH – Zane State College’s campus became a melting pot of global cultures with its annual Ethnic Food Fair on January 12th.

The food fair drew the community together for a showcase of diverse cultures and flavors. Attendees were treated to an array of international dishes from Chinese, Egyptian, Italian, to soul food all made by Zane State’s culinary arts students.

“I think it’s awesome. It’s not just preparing it today. That’s the really cool thing about this. For an event of this scale, the planning started several months ago. The students are doing meal planning and the ordering. It’s really an opportunity for them to understand the backside of the house as well as the interaction with the customers.” Zane State President, Chad Brown said.

The fair dedicated its proceeds to the Joyce A. Farmer Smith Memorial Scholarship, in honor of Smith’s devotion and efforts to raise awareness of minority issues.

“She (Joyce A. Farmer Smith) really spent her time focused on helping students in poverty and helping students of color get their post high school education.” Brown said.

Zane State would like to thank their event sponsors: Energy Cooperative, Leadership Muskingum, All Well, Genesis Healthcare System, and North Valley Bank.

Zane State’s Ethnic Food Fair plans to continue next year.
