ZANESVILLE, OH – Attention cat lovers! The Animal Shelter Society has some purr-fect news for you!

Starting February 23rd through the month of March, the animal shelter is running a Fur-Ever Feline Adoption Special to tackle the issue of cat overpopulation and to help our furry friends find loving homes. During the adoption special, cats under 6 months old can be adopted for $55, while those over 6 months are available for an adoption fee of $45. The adoption fees include spay or neuter surgeries, vaccines, flea and tick prevention, de-wormer, and even a microchip.

“We have over 92 cats in our care. Whether you see them in the two adoption rooms, there’s a lot in quarantine, there’s a lot in foster care. We’re trying to make sure there’s no kittens on the street, because people haven’t taken responsibility to have their cat spayed or neutered. We’re able to take care of them. It is a huge responsibility to owning an animal, and the Animal Shelter Society gives those options. They’re very low-cost options to curve that overpopulation,” Animal Shelter Society Executive Director, April Gibson said.

The Animal Shelter Society’s Yappy Hour event will be held on Thursday, March 7th, from 6 to 8 pm at the Zanesville Country Club. Indulge in delicious food, refreshing drinks, and bid on unique auction items, all while supporting the animal shelter. Tickets are $50 per person and can be purchased at the shelter or online. Proceeds will go towards the shelter, which is a 100% non-profit.

“With 17 staff members at minimum wage that takes care of these animals with over 127 in our building today, it’s a lot. We appreciate our community because they let us know that they believe in us, and they believe in our mission statement,” Gibson said.
